It’s been an exhilarating last little while at Green Music Australia.
We are thrilled to announce that in 2025 we will be hosting six live music venue workshops across the state of NSW to help our sector understand how to reduce the impact of energy, waste and all things environmental sustainability. Thank you to Sound NSW for believing in our project. Keep your eyes peeled for more information in the coming months.

BIGSOUND's Green Marketing Switch
We are thrilled to be consulting for BIGSOUND for the third year running. By our recommendation BIGSOUND is now running three-year branding campaigns rather than updating the marketing style each year, helping with the reuse of products such as signage, uniforms and merch products. The conference this year designed stage banners without dates, saving items heading to landfill, and saving money too.
Older conference banners and materials were donated to a local sustainable fashion maker, Clive Street, to upcycle into bags and accessories. How cool!
Meet the Solar Sunflower
Meet the Solar Sunflower, one of Australia’s first mobile solar generator systems and Southern Cross University’s green solution to power the music festivals of the future. This innovative “Arts meets Science” project emerged from a Southern Cross University Sustainability Research grant to design and build a solar energy technology prototype to replace polluting diesel generators that are installed at most Australian outdoor music festivals.

If you want to learn more about this process and if it affects you, please reach out.
NSW Plastic Bans
There is a suite of plastic bans planned for NSW and the NSW Environment Protection Authority is asking for your feedback. Amongst these recommendations are a few that will affect events. These include:
- By end 2027: Require food service venues such as fast-food restaurants and cafes to accept reusable cups.
- Eliminate harmful chemicals in food packaging.
