Venues are the lifeblood of the Australian music scene. So it is important that they build their climate resilience and help lead the way towards a greener music scene. Our venue programs supports venue operators and staff to implement positive changes to reduce their footprint - and rewards them for taking action.
Expressions of interest are open for Green Music Australia’s tailored education program for live music, arts, and cultural venues across NSW. The program is designed to help venues and their staff strengthen sustainability practices across waste management, energy use and supply chains. Venues that serve food are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly in light of the NSW FOGO mandates rolling out from 1 July, 2026.
The program includes a free 2-hour online workshop, a free in-person workshop in Sydney, and access to discounted Green Venue Certification opportunities supported by the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
Our free Green Venue Guide is a comprehensive overview on how to improve the environmental performance of your live music venue. Through practical strategies, tools and case studies, the guide provides a step by step plan to help improve venue sustainability through backline, energy, waste, food, and procurement practices. An updated version of the guide is coming in late 2026.

Green Music Australia’s Green Venue Certification program rewards and celebrates Music Venues who demonstrate a commitment towards environmental action and values. By certifying your live music venue, you can promote your environmental credentials, helping you to connect with likeminded artists, industry, and audiences.
Participating venues will be measured against a range of key selection criteria including: Energy, Waste, Water, Food & Drink and Procurement. Once assessed, venues will be provided with a star rating based on their performance. Certified venues will also be able to promote their venue as a certified Green Venue and be published in our Green Venue Directory.
