Sustainable Music & Merch Alliance

The Sustainable Music & Merch Alliance brings together record labels, merch companies, manufacturers, retailers, and distributors across Australia and New Zealand to understand and reduce the environmental impact of music and merchandise.

Building on the Music Product Stewardship Alliance (2024), this initiative is about connection, knowledge-sharing, and practical action, helping the industry make better choices about what we make, sell, and buy.

We’re not here to impose rules - we’re here to share solutions, connect people who care, and support the sector to move towards best practice together.

Our Purpose:

  • Educate industry, artists, and fans about the most sustainable products available.
  • Work with the sector to develop solutions that reduce the negative impacts of vinyl, CDs, and merchandise.
  • Stay connected to international research, data, and innovations that can inform better decisions locally.
  • Coordinate shared language, definitions, and reporting methods as technology and standards evolve.
  • Advocate for and support best practice in sustainable manufacturing, freight, and disposal
