Green Action Program Alumni Graduate!
In early July, seven NSW music businesses graduated from our third Green Action Program hosted on Gadigal Lands, thanks to the support of the NSW Environment Protection Authority, Creative Australia and Create NSW.
Association of Artist Managers (AAM), Club 77, Cobargo Folk Festival, Fillmore's, Live Nation (including Spilt Milk and Anita’s Theatre), The Servo and Yours and Owls all undertook the program, coming out together with their own Sustainability Action Plan and a new network of environmentally minded music industry professionals.
We congratulate each and everyone of them for their commitment, and can’t wait to follow them on their green journey.
“Our venue Club 77 participated in GAP this year and we never imagined it would be the most insightful 8 week program. The facilitators are excellent, bring a wealth of knowledge and really care about helping businesses become greener. I highly recommend Green Music Australia.”
"All of us who have the privilege of participating in the Australian music industry also have a responsibility to address what our carbon footprint looks like in the process. The Association of Artist Managers not only takes this responsibility seriously, but we were eager and excited to learn from our colleagues at Green Music Australia about the innovative ways we can structure our org, to play our part for a sustainable climate and future for our industry. The program gave us these tools and then some. Highly recommended for anyone that also believes they have to take action here."

Reducing the environmental impact of vinyl and CDs
The Music Product Stewardship Alliance reconvened last month in Sydney to check in on progress and explore potential solutions to improve the environmental impact of products across the country.
Through the establishment of six solutions-orientated working groups, labels, distributors, retailers and peak bodies have united to investigate barriers and opportunities related to CD and Vinyl Manufacture and Distribution.
The initial findings were shared with labels across Australia at Indie-Con. Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting announcements in the coming months!
Thanks to the NSW Environment Protection Authority and City of Sydney for their support of the Music Product Stewardship Alliance.
Building a climate-resilient music festival scene
Members of the Party With The Planet alliance got together in July to discuss the critical issue of climate risks and adaptation opportunities at Australian music festivals.
41 participants from across the music festival landscape united to better understand the key climate change risks impacting the success of music festivals, and how festivals can adapt and embed climate resilience across the industry.
Following the roundtable, the insights and perspectives shared from participants were collated into a discussion paper submitted to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the challenges and opportunities within the Australian live music industry and will be used to further the research of adaptation solutions for Australian music festivals.
The Party With The Planet alliance is supported by the NSW Environment Protection Authority and the NSW Government through Create NSW.
