Green Music Australia (GMA) - Australia’s peak body for music and the environment - is thrilled to share that Universal Music Australia (UMA) has joined its group of committed industry partners generously helping to fund environmental action across the Australian music sector.
Universal Music Australia have committed to a multi- year partnership, supporting Green Music Australia’s suite of programs aimed at reducing the music sector's environmental impact and promoting regenerative practices. This commitment will see Universal join a growing list of music businesses dedicated to supporting Green Music Australia’s mission, including Unified Music Group and APRA AMCOS.
"We are immensely grateful for Universal Music Australia's support of our ambition to create a greener music scene and healthier planet," said Berish Bilander, Green Music Australia's Chief Executive Officer. "Through participating in the 2023 Green Action Program, and helping us to establish the Music Product Stewardship Alliance this year, UMA is playing a leadership role in this space. Their ongoing support, alongside that of our other industry partners, further strengthens our ability to advocate for change and foster a culture of environmental sustainability in the music sector."
“UMA has been a proud partner of Green Music for many years, and we look forward to continuing this partnership. We’ve always admired their commitment to making the Australian music industry more sustainable, and we look forward to continuing on this journey so that together we can make a more positive impact on the planet” said Sean Warner, President & CEO, Universal Music Australia and New Zealand.
Over the past few years, Green Music Australia has made significant strides in championing environmental action within the music industry. From publishing the much anticipated artist sustainability toolkit Sound Country, to launching Australia’s first ever music industry green training course, the Green Action Program, and establishing the innovative Music Product Stewardship Alliance to reduce the impact of vinyl and CDs, Green Music Australia is well equipped to support the music sector to take more ambitious climate action and inspire deeper cultural change.
