Synthesise #2 - A Music Business Newsletter

Welcome to our second ever Synthesise, Green Music Australia’s Music Industry e-Newsletter created to share inspiring sustainability stories, funding opportunities, and education pieces.

Since our last newsletter, many festivals, artists, event and industry workers across the country have faced the impacts of extreme weather conditions. With over 47 festivals fully or partially cancelled due to extreme weather events since 2015 - it is now more important than ever that we take action to address the climate crisis on our doorstep.

Not sure how or where to start? Let us know what you’d like to see or learn in this newsletter, we’d love to hear from you.

ATTENTION NSW MUSIC BUSINESSES!

2024 GREEN ACTION PROGRAM APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

Green Music Australia is excited to announce that our flagship music industry training initiative, the Green Action Program (GAP), is now open for expressions of interest from NSW-based music businesses. The program is scheduled to commence in May 2024.

Launched in 2022, GAP is helping businesses across Australia to better understand, monitor and improve their environmental impact. GAP alumni include ABC Music, Unified Music Group, The Corner Hotel, arn (Australian Radio Network), Brunswick Ballroom, MusicNSW and more. Watch highlights from the 2023 NSW program.

The 2024 New South Wales program has been made possible with the support of the NSW Environment Protection Authority, the NSW Government through Create NSW, and the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body.

Are you an indie label or an indie retailer? We are currently working on a special project to help better understand the impact of physical recorded music products in Australia.

To help us get a deeper understanding of what’s happening on the ground, we have created a short questionnaire aimed at both indie retailers and labels. Any information you can provide will greatly help our efforts to improve the environmental footprint of our local record industry.
