Seeking Musician Board Member

As a not-for-profit Environment organisation, Green Music Australia (GMA) is required to be governed by a Board of Directors. We currently have an amazing Board, but we are seeking one more musician to ensure the Board represents our industry of artists and to widen our connections.

WHO WE ARE
We are harnessing the cultural power of our country’s influential music scene to lead the way to a greener world. An independent not for profit organisation, our advocacy and education programs support, connect, and inspire all levels of Australia’s music
industry to deliver arts and cultural activities that are environmentally sound. We run campaigns on key issues to build support and momentum for change. And we celebrate successes and leaders, showing others how much can be done. For examples of our work, check out our Annual Report here.

WHAT IS A BOARD DIRECTOR
As a not-for-profit Environment organisation, Green Music Australia (GMA) is required to be governed by a Board of Directors. We currently have an amazing Board as you will see below, but we are seeking one more musician to ensure the Board represents our industry of artists and to widen our connections. Board members are expected to participate in as many meetings as possible (5 per year) by phone or in person and contribute their expertise and support throughout the year towards Green Music Australia’s goals: making Australia’s music and arts
sector more environmentally sustainable and working with artists and sector leaders to speak out for action on climate change and environmental protection. GMA asks its Board members to advise and support in the following priorities:

  • Diversifying fundraising and other income streams so that the organisation is less reliant on existing grants, can develop more financial security and support
    our programs
  • Raise the profile of organisation to create new opportunities and grow impact
  • Expand GMA membership to the music and events industry by assisting with new contacts and ideas.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?
There’s never been a more important time for artists to step up and lead by example. This is a wonderful opportunity to stand up and be counted and influence the direction of our wonderful organisation. This position is unpaid but the benefits
include:

  • Creating positive change in the arts
  • Leadership experience to increase your influence
  • Creating a new network of like-minded colleague and friends
  • Governance experience
