We’re incredibly excited to announce that the prestigious and venerable National Folk Festival, this year celebrating its 50th anniversary, is joining #BYOBottle!
The National has taken its environmental responsibilities seriously for years, even winning awards for its recycling and waste management efforts. They have long provided refilling stations around the site, but until now, they haven’t taken the active step of phasing out disposables.
With this year’s event just around the corner, the National has committed to a multi-year partnership with Green Music Australia. And the first step is to stop supplying disposable bottles to artists and crew.
Saving an estimated 5,000 bottles over the course of the long weekend, this will involve a solid communication effort, asking all artists and crew to bring their own reusable water bottle. Recyclable and compostable cups will be made available, as well as a small number of reusable bottles, at refilling stations backstage at each of the 18 stages.
We’re delighted the National Folk Festival is taking this great step and look forward to an excellent working relationship with them, helping them go green.
