Right now, we're facing a climate crisis driven by a culture that's out of tune with the planet. But music has always been a force for change, and together, we can use its power to shift hearts and spark action.
On Thursday 23 October, Green Music Australia is joining AusArt Day – and for 12 hours only, every donation will be doubled thanks to our friends at Sony Music Australia. Register now.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 in a single day to power climate action through music. But we can only do it with your help.
Your support fuels free tools, training, and campaigns that help venues cut emissions, festivals reduce waste, and inspire music fans to act.
Your donation also empowers musicians like Mitch from Ocean Alley to step up and lead change.
“Before engaging in the Green Music workshop I didn’t feel like I had a chance to make a difference…”
Growing up as a surfer and bushwalker gave Mitch a deep love and respect for nature. But as Ocean Alley began touring across the world, he was shocked to see cities where care for the environment wasn’t a priority.
“I saw pollution and wastefulness everywhere. This nagging feeling grew as I wondered how I could offset our touring impacts and take meaningful climate action. I wanted my music to not only entertain, but to make a difference to the lives of people who may never listen to our band.”
Mitch attended a free Green Music Australia workshop on Bundjalung Country, which gave him support, community, and direction on environmental action as an artist. Since then, he’s joined a network of like-minded musicians creating change.
“I’ve gained knowledge and experience which I’ve used on local climate projects around my hometown. I’m also focused on reducing Ocean Alley's touring footprint and making our merchandise more efficient, including vinyl and CD production. There’s a lot of work to do, but taking the first step is the biggest – Green Music has given me the resources and community to make it happen.”
Because of support from people like you, Mitch has transformed his anxiety into action – and is inspiring audiences and peers to do the same.
So if you can, please save the date for Thursday 23 October and you can double your impact. This means:
$25 = $50
$100 = $200
$250 = $500
As a national charity, we rely on generous donations to keep our work going. Together, we can harness the cultural power of music to tackle the climate crisis and build a safer, more sustainable future for the music we love.
